Healthy Sex, Healthy Life: STI Prevention and Management

Course Details

A major review of the ‘Australian Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Management Guidelines For Use In Primary Care’ was undertaken in 2020–22. All content was reviewed and updated by a multi-disciplinary group of clinical and non-clinical experts. Due to the recency of this update, it is important to implement the key changes in clinical practice.

This is a RACGP CPD module with an allocated 1 hour of Education Activities (EA), 8 hours of Measuring Outcomes (MO), and 2 hours of Reflective Practice (RP) under the RACGP 2026-28 CPD program.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Evaluate the gaps between your practice and recommendations from recognised sources of guidance in the area of STI prevention and management.
  2. Determine appropriate regular review strategies to optimise STI prevention and management.
  3. List the conditions requiring public health notification and contact tracing.
  4. Identify suitable resources to enhance your patients’ ability to understand the importance of STI prevention and management.
  5. Review changes that are required to improve the quality of sexual health care for patients in your practice.

This audit program was developed by Lateral Connections at the request of, and with funding from, ViiV Healthcare Australia.
