Prostate Cancer – Focal Therapy

Course Details

Gain an overview of emerging focal therapy techniques in prostate cancer treatment, highlighting targeted approaches that minimise side effects by preserving healthy prostate tissue.

This is a RACGP CPD module with an allocated 0.5 hour of Education Activities (EA) and 1 hour of Reflective Practice (RP) under the RACGP 2023-25 CPD program.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the prevalence and incidence of prostate cancer in Australian men and outline when to initiate a testing conversation in primary care
  2. Discuss the development and application of focal therapy and the efficacy of treatment in prostate cancer
  3. Explain focal therapy alongside active surveillance, surgery and radiotherapy, then outline a simple post-treatment follow-up plan
